How it works

The Launch Rural Nevada Pitch competition is an event that was developed to assist small business owners with pitch development and delivery, a crucial skill when establishing clientele and securing capital. Further, the program allows proprietors an opportunity to learn tips and tricks from local business leaders, network with new and established small business owners, and potentially secure prize money to assist with startup costs.

Once registered, you will be offered several online training and educations courses that are provided by Nevada’s premier business accelerator, StartupNV. The team at StartupNV will continue to mentor and assist with presentation content, slide design, and speech delivery ensuring that you’re ready to launch on pitch day. The four top contenders from each category will go on to pitch at the final event on November 3, 2023.

Online Training & Education Schedule

To prepare participants for this Launch Rural Nevada Rural Pitch Day, we will deploy series of online training, information sessions, and consultations to prepare you for you Pitch Day on November 3, 2023. Participation in these sessions is not required in order to participate in Pitch Day, but they can provide valuable advice and assistance to help you prepare your pitch.

August 1 – Recording 1: Are you Ready to be an Entrepreneur and Validating Your Idea

(will include Value Proposition, Questionnaire development and Concept Statement)

Homework: Value proposition; customer validation plan and questionnaire; collated results of interviews

August 8 – Live Session 1: Office hours Noon to 1 pm: Value proposition and customer validation

August 15 – Recording 2: Deconstructing Customer Validation research

Homework: Create cost analysis

August 22 – Live Session 2: Office hours – Noon to 1 pm: Questions about cost analysis

August 29 – Recording 3: Business Model Canvas

Homework: Complete some sections of Business Model Canvas

September 5 – Live Session 3: Office hours – Noon to 1 pm: Questions about BMC and customer validation

September 12 – Recording 4: Market Research instruction – Case Study TAM SAM SOM

Homework: Target market description, demographics and estimated market size

September 19 – Live Session 4: Office hours – Noon to 1 pm: TAM SAM SOM help

September 26 – Recording 5: Pitch Decks 101

Homework: Create a pitch deck and script for your pitch

October 3 – Live Session 5: Office hours – Noon to 1 pm: Pitch Deck Help

October 10 – Live Session 6: Office Hours – Noon to 1 pm: Pitch deck questions and review

Homework: complete and submit pitch deck

October 13 – Deadline for entry

October 20 – Announce finalists

October 23 – November 1 – Pitch Practice for finalists

November 2 – Live pitch practice with feedback – GBCC & online

November 3 – Business Showcase and Pitch Day! – live and online
